GLAD - My all time go to practice

Are you feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or just generally down? Sometimes, it can be easy to get caught up in the negative aspects of life and forget to appreciate the positive things around us. It’s not only easy, it’s actually what your brain is there to do. Our brain was built to focus on the negative, the problems and the safety concerns. That’s where it really excels, but that doesn’t mean that’s all it can do! That's where the GLAD skill comes in. By focusing on the GLAD skill we can train our brains to pay more attention to the good things in our lives.

Gratitude, Learned, Accomplished, Delight

The GLAD skill is a simple yet powerful tool that can help us feel happier and more balanced day to day. By practicing gratitude, we can cultivate a sense of appreciation for the people, experiences, and things in our lives. This can help shift our focus away from what we don't have and towards what we do have, creating a more positive mindset.

Learning new things can also boost our mood and sense of accomplishment. When we challenge ourselves and learn new skills or information, we feel a sense of pride and satisfaction. This can help us feel more confident and capable, which can improve our overall well-being.

Acknowledging our accomplishments, no matter how small, can also help us feel happier and more balanced. Celebrating our successes, no matter how small, can help us stay motivated and keep pushing towards our goals.

Finally, taking time to appreciate moments of delight can bring joy and positivity into our lives. Whether it's a beautiful sunset, a good laugh with friends, or a warm cup of tea, taking time to savor these moments can help us feel more connected and content.

It works, I promise

I’m not going to promise that it works immediately, we do call it GLAD practice, but it does work! I hear my brain call out things I’m grateful for, or things that give me a sense of delight on a regular basis now that I practice GLAD regularly.

If you're looking to incorporate the GLAD skill into your daily routine, try this guided meditation practice. It's a simple yet effective way to train your brain to pay more attention to the good things in your life. By focusing on gratitude, learned, accomplished, and delight, you can cultivate a more positive mindset and improve your overall well-being. Give it a try and see the positive impact it can have on your life!
