Resolutions for Menopause: Setting Positive Intentions for the Year Ahead

Hey there, wonderful women! As we step into a brand-new year, it's the perfect time to reflect on our journey through menopause and set some positive intentions. I don’t think there’s anything magical about January 1st in particular, however I do believe that there is power in intention and ritual. Slowing down to think about what we want out of the year ahead can really make an impact! So many of my clients report time and time again that they don’t carve out any time for themselves, to think about how things are going or what they want.

So, forget the usual resolutions; let's talk about intentions tailored specifically for navigating the beautiful yet challenging terrain of menopause. Here are some examples with potential actions you can take to support those intentions! Don’t get overwhelmed. I encourage you to stay small and pick one place to start and set that intention for the New Year ahead.

Embrace Change with Open Arms

  • Journal Your Journey: Start a menopause journal. Document the changes you're experiencing, both physically and emotionally. Reflect on how these changes align with your authentic self. These can also be helpful notes to keep for doctor’s or other health related appointments.

  • Celebrate Milestones: Set small goals and celebrate every milestone. Whether it's navigating a challenging day with grace or embracing a new aspect of yourself, acknowledge and celebrate your achievements.

Prioritize Self-Care

  • Create a Self-Care Calendar: Schedule regular self-care activities. Whether it's a weekly pampering session, a nature walk, or moments of meditation, make self-care a non-negotiable part of your routine.

  • Delegate Responsibilities: Delegate tasks that drain your energy. If you’re finding it hard to schedule in time for yourself this can be a challenging and rewarding goal to set. Share responsibilities with family and friends, allowing you more time for self-care.

Cultivate a Positive Mindset

  • Daily Affirmations: Start each day with positive affirmations that you can believe about yourself. Affirm your strength, resilience, and the beauty of the journey you're on.

  • Gratitude Practice: Keep a gratitude journal. Each day, jot down things you're grateful for, fostering a positive outlook on life.

Stay Connected

  • Join Support Groups: Actively seek and join menopause support groups. Share your experiences, listen to others, and build a network of women who understand and uplift each other.

  • Organize Social Gatherings: Plan regular social gatherings with friends. Connection is key, and surrounding yourself with a supportive community can make a world of difference. Sometimes we just need to know we’re not alone in what we’re going through.

Explore New Wellness Practices

  • Research and Try One New Practice Monthly: Explore different wellness practices each month. It could be a new form of exercise, a mindfulness technique, or a holistic therapy. Keep what resonates with you.

  • Create a Wellness Routine: Find small ways to incorporate your favorite wellness practices into a daily or weekly routine. Consistency is key to reaping the benefits.

Educate Yourself

  • Set Learning Goals: Create a learning plan. Identify topics related to menopause, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments. Set goals to educate yourself on these subjects.

  • Attend Workshops and Webinars: Actively seek out workshops or webinars on menopause (like mine!) Stay informed about the latest research and advancements in menopausal health.

Celebrate Your Strength

  • Daily Reflection: Take a moment each day to reflect on your inner strength. Acknowledge the challenges you've overcome and the wisdom gained.

  • Create a Strength Jar: Write down moments that showcase your strength on small notes. Place them in a jar. When you need a boost, read through these reminders of your incredible strength.

As we embark on this new year, let's turn these resolutions into tangible actions. Embrace change, prioritize self-care, foster positivity, stay connected, explore wellness practices, educate yourself, and celebrate the phenomenal strength within you. If you’re looking for community, I hope you’ll reach out and talk with me about the individual coaching and community of support I offer! Here's to a year of intentional actions and a vibrant menopausal journey!
